Please note: Due to the decision by the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) to implement Florida Standards rather than Common Core, the term Florida Standards is used throughout this website. Any reference to Common Core on FADSS-related documents were developed prior to the FDOE transitioning to Florida Standards. Florida Standards for District Leaders is a unique project specifically designed as a professional development tool to assist superintendents and district leaders as they move towards full implementation of the Florida Standards (Florida Standards) in their district.
FADSS – in partnership with ASCD, the Florida School Boards Association and the Florida Center for Interactive Media at Florida State University – developed this user-friendly professional development tool to help district leaders gauge where they currently are in terms of Florida Standards implementation and provide resources to help them continue to move forward. This project was funded through a grant from the Florida Department of Education.
The project is designed to promote a blended learning environment through three specific components:
These resources are built around these four key areas:
- Developing common language and understanding of the instructional shift inherent in the Florida Standards.
- Examining and aligning district sanctioned curriculum, instruction, assessment and professional learning.
- Implementing Florida Standards in schools: the role of district leaders.
- Organizational policies and structures that support effective implementation of the Florida Standards district wide.
It is our intent that these resources will provide you with a basis for evaluation of your progress toward implementation of the Florida Standards as well as a means to provide professional development for district leaders.
